March 27, 2012

The Otago University Women’s Eight have been invited by the University of Washington to attend the prestigious Windermere Cup Regatta in Seattle during the early weeks of May. The regatta has over 40,000 spectators lining the sides on the Montlake Cut cheering on the local University of Washington Huskies.

The OURC crew selected are:

Laura Tester (Stroke)
Sophie Spiers
Sarah Lindley
Tessa Young
Kirsty Thompson
Holly Fletcher
Lauren Clark
Lisa Owen (Bow)
Heather Scott (Cox)
Rachael Kennedy (Travelling reserve)

This is a young crew, however they hold plenty of international experience and are under the guidance and direction of coach Glen Sinclair. The crew has the ability and strength to provide a spectacular performance against the American Universities. The Otago Crew will look to defend their New Zealand Universities Championship Eights title in the lead up to the Windermere Cup over the Easter break. The crew will leave for America on the 30th of April and return to New Zealand on the 11th of May.
