Ourc World Champion!

Sept. 4, 2014

At the recent World Rowing Championships past and present members of OURC have performed extraordinarily. The highlight of the regatta for OURC would undoubtedly be current member Fiona Bourke claiming the world title in the women's double scull. Fiona began her rowing career as a novice during her studies at Otago University and has risen rapidly to the top of the sport. Another current member Alistair Bond finished 2nd in the mens lightweight four. Alistair had been in the lightweight double but was called into the four for the semi-final following an injury in the boat. He slotted in well and helped the four to a strong finish. Former members Louise Trappitt and Rebecca Scown finished third in the women's pair while Hamish Bond recorded a double victory in the men's coxed and coxless pair.

Congratulations to all!
